The Importance of Your Diet

I recently signed up at the discussfitness.com forums and quite quickly learned something. I always knew diet was an important part of building muscle as an ectomorph, but even I didn’t even appreciate it enough. Here’s a nugget of information I found inĀ this post:

How powerful is the effect of eating? Studies have been done on overfeeding where people were fed an additional 1000 calories per day for 100 days without any training whatsoever. Of the weight they gained, even in the absence of exercise, an average of 35% was lean muscle mass.

That’s almost mind blowing and I imagine why so many hardgainers (myself included) struggle to put on the weight. We’ve got the training lodged in our brain, but it’s still the hardgainer diet that’s acting as the bottleneck.
