How To “Build” Muscle without Doing Anything

by David on January 29, 2010

One of the earliest posts on this blog I recommended 3 must reads for all ectomorphs. One of the blog posts I linked to was From Geek to Freak: How I Gained 34 lbs. of Muscle in 4 Weeks by author Tim Ferriss. But as I mentioned in that previous article of mine…

“…he has been known to twist words and bend ethics, which do make his claims in this article somewhat dubious.”

The principles I feel are solid (which is why I listed the post in the first place) but there is plenty of manipulation in the muscle building niche, which is why I wanted to bring this up again.

It’s an ongoing problem that skinny guys feel insecure and less masculine because people in sales and marketing only show off photos of people with enormous muscles, making use of lighting, fake tans, and even dehydration to play on the vanity of what strength building is considered to be about.

Anyways, what sparked my desire to post this was the rediscovering an article, based on the Geek to Freak article mentioned previously, that gives a great example of how photos can be manipulated to make someone look more muscular. Don’t let the manipulative tactics of marketers guilt you into purchasing their products or lead you to question your masculinity.
