Eat More Food with the Double Portion Habit

by David on February 2, 2010

The simplest habits are often the ones we keep (humanity defaults to easy on average, which is mostly unfortunate) and this is perhaps the simplest diet habit you can adopt:

Double your portions.

Nope, you don’t have to eat double the portions, just make double the portions. For example, the next time you feel like eating a couple of boiled eggs, double the portion size by boiling four eggs, and then store the latter two in the fridge. This is great for a few reasons:

  • As discussed previously having more food prepared often leads to eating more. Even though you may not plan to eat all four eggs straight awaythere’s a likely chance you’ll eat at least 3 of them in the same meal if they’re all ready to go.
  • You can have a bit of extra food nearby after you’ve initially eaten and, keeping in mind the truth of why skinny guys don’t eat enough food, this will lead you to eating more.
  • There’s no need to prepare the next meal. This essentially cuts the food preparation time in half.

So yeah: double your portion size to eat more food.
